Introduced in 1950, the Aurelia was Lancia’s first new post-war car, developed under Gianni Lancia, the founder’s son, and the legendary engineer Vittorio Jano, who had previously designed championship-winning racing cars for Alfa Romeo. It was a true engineering tour de force: powered by the world’s first series-production V6, a 60-degree unit designed by Francesco de Virgilio, it also featured a rear-mounted transaxle and inboard rear brakes, innovations that were revelations in post-war Europe. In 1951, Lancia unveiled the B20, an elegant coupé bodied by Pinin Farina that is widely recognised as one of the very first true grand tourers.

Its sporting credentials were proven immediately. At the 1951 Mille Miglia, Giovanni Bracco and Umberto Maglioli drove a near-standard B20 to second place overall, beaten only by a Ferrari 340 America with more than twice its displacement. The B20 went on to claim numerous class victories and podium finishes in the great road races of the early 1950s.

Introduced in 1954, the Aurelia B20 Series IV is regarded by many enthusiasts as an ideal balance within the B20 family. It combined the more powerful 2.5-litre V6 with a new De Dion rear axle and the refined Pinin Farina coachwork of the later cars, while retaining much of the agility of the early models. Only around 1'000 examples of the Series IV were built, and as a 1954 car, it is eligible for the Mille Miglia Storica.

This Lancia Aurelia B20 Series IV was finished on 6 February 1953 in Nero with an interior in Panno Nocciola, as confirmed by its Lancia Certificato di Origine. Today, it is presented in immaculate condition with Matching Numbers and RHD configuration like all Lancias of the period. It comes with a traceable history and numerous invoices and records, as well as a FIVE identity card. It is offered fresh from service, Swiss MFK inspection and with a Swiss veteran title.
