Unveiled at the London Motor Show in October 1965, the Aston Martin DB6 succeeded the legendary DB5 and represented the latest evolution of the acclaimed DB4, DB5 and DB6 model range from the David Brown era. Whilst the DB5 achieved worldwide fame on the silver screen, the DB6 refined its concept to meet the demands of faster and more comfortable touring. Its wheelbase was extended by almost 10 cm and the roofline raised, creating more space for rear passengers as well as noticeably more headroom and legroom throughout the car. At the rear, the tapering section of the DB5 gave way to a distinctive Kamm-tail with an integrated spoiler, a design first used on Aston Martin’s "Project" racing cars, which improved stability at high speeds and reduced aerodynamic drag. Remarkably, despite its larger dimensions, the DB6 weighed only around 8 kg more than its predecessor. In addition, power steering was offered as an option for the first time.

The Aston Martin DB6 Mk2, subsequently unveiled in July 1969, marked the ultimate evolution of the model and shared many components with the then-new DBS. Its wider 15-inch Avon wheels required subtly widened front and rear wheel arches, giving the car a more muscular appearance. The interior was redesigned in the style of the DBS, including the pleated leather seats. Power steering, previously an option, was now fitted as standard, making this the most refined and practical DB6 for both everyday use and long intercontinental journeys.

Known as the DB6 Vantage Mk2, the Vantage engine variant was available as an option for owners seeking an additional boost in performance. They were fitted with the 4.0-litre straight-six engine designed by Tadek Marek in its highest "C" specification. Triple Weber twin-barrel carburettors boosted the power output from the previous 282 PS to 325 PS, enough for a top speed of around 241 km/h.

As the production run lasted less than a year, only 71 examples of the DB6 Vantage Mk2 were built.

This Aston Martin DB6 Vantage Mk2 is finished in Silver Birch and features Connolly leather upholstery in Dark Blue VM 3282, complemented by carpets in Dark Blue.

On 10 September 1993, Mr Peter F. Braunwalder purchased the car through the Aston Martin dealer Stratstone in Mayfair, London, and subsequently had it transported to Switzerland. As the correspondence shows, he was its loyal owner for more than 20 years.

The car is currently registered in Switzerland and comes with a comprehensive file of documents, including correspondence from the previous owner as well as various original invoices and documents. It has just undergone its annual service and holds a Swiss veteran title.

As one of only 71 examples, this car ranks amongst the rarest and most sought-after Aston Martin models of the late 1960s. It combines the timeless elegance of the DB series with the most refined and powerful iteration of the DB6, presenting an exceptional opportunity for the discerning collector.
