In the Ferrari Classiche showroom of Niki Hasler AG, Arturo Merzario met... an overall. A Swiss collector showed him Niki Lauda's original racing suit, which probably saved his life in his accident. Arturo Merzario himself was mainly responsible for this, having pulled the world champion out of the burning Ferrari. The fact that Lauda never ‘voluntarily’ thanked Merzario for this truly heroic act is something that even his most distinguished biographer Herbert Völker does not understand, as he writes in his book ‘Lauda’, which is well worth reading.
The overall has another link to Switzerland. It was developed by the Swiss Max Ernst in collaboration with Emerson Fittipaldi and Herbert Müller.
